A former school teacher and an avid outdoorswoman, I create books for early elementary and middle school readers that celebrate life and the natural world.

I write short stories, poems, essays, and articles for older readers with the same goal.

Nature has many inspiring landscapes. I enjoy taking photos of the country in all of its moods. It has been a privilege to raise a family with room to grow and the freedom to explore. My photographs for the Meet the Applemans series document our ranch adventures.
